The first few times I was serving in ECM I struggled to connect with some of the congregation, probably as I was worried we didn't have anything in common to talk about. After attending a few times I was having an extended conversation with someone, he shared with me some of the problems he was facing and he also shared that he didnt consider himself a Christian yet and definitely didn't give any tithes as that was his Centrelink money. I tried to encourage him to be more open to it, and that you never really know what God can do. When the service started and the offering bag came around I spotted him stop, hesitated then pull out some money to put in. I haven't had a chance to follow up with him yet but I am praying that God saw his heart and sacrifice and responded faithfully. I also learned that it is untrue that I have nothing in common with them there, as we have Christ in common.
