SOUTH SUDAN

Going Missional in

We went in a smaller town outside of the capital city of Juba for about 3 weeks. While we were there we were able to work alongside a local midwife and three traditional birth attendants. There was one day when not many women came to antenatal care but we were able to spend a few hours teaching and training these local healthcare workers. They were so keen to learn! We taught them about different complications in pregnancy, different ways to do an antenatal check, how to monitor a women well in labour and when to refer a women to higher level care. We were able to leave them with some practical tools but also more knowledge these things that we have learned to be able to help save lives of women and babies for many years to come. Also these healthcare workers were all Christian and we were able to bring them encouragement and pray for them at the same time as teaching them these practical things.
